HUD’s Office of Fair Housing/Equal Opportunity to Provide Training on Fair Housing Act’s Accessibility Requirements for Controls in Accessible Locations

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Fair Housing/Equal Opportunity will provide a virtual training on the Fair Housing Act’s Accessibility Requirements on April 4, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. (ET). This session will address the technical specifications required by the Fair Housing Act (FHA) Requirement 5 for light switches, electrical outlets, thermostats, and other environmental controls in accessible locations. Presenters will also discuss recommendations for increased accessibility. Architects, designers, contractors, builders and developers, disability and housing advocates, and individuals interested in FHA are encouraged to attend, and attendees will gain practical knowledge and resources on designing compliant homes.
