HUD’s Office of Fair Housing/Equal Opportunity to Provide Training on Fair Housing Act’s Accessibility Requirements for Reinforced Walls for Grab Bars

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Fair Housing/Equal Opportunity will provide a virtual training on the Fair Housing Act Accessibility Requirements on March 14, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. (ET). This session will address the technical specifications and clearances required by the Fair Housing Act (FHA) Requirement 6 for reinforced walls for grab bars, reinforcing for grab bars at toilets and conventional and non-conventional bathtubs, and reinforcing for seats at showers. Presenters will also discuss recommendations for reinforcing methods. Architects, designers, contractors, builders and developers, disability and housing advocates, and individuals interested in FHA are encouraged to attend. Attendees will gain practical knowledge and resources on designing compliant bathrooms.
