November 15, 2022

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) will host the virtual event “DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) Summit 2022: A Whole-of-Government Approach to Disability Employment” on December 6 – 8, 2022. The Summit is developed in collaboration with the White House Domestic Policy Council, U.S. Office of Management and Budget, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, U.S General Services Administration, and U.S. Access Board. The Summit will focus on approaches to integrating disability employment across all areas of DEIA in the federal workforce. Over the three days, agency practitioners will provide presentations, skill-builder sessions, and panel discussions on various topics, including reasonable accommodations, equity and civil rights for people with disabilities, accessibility in strategic plans and mission priorities, best practices for accessibility in built and digital workplaces, and strategic recruitment, hiring, and retention.

At the Summit, Board Executive Director Sachin Pavithran will present and moderate the panel “The Transition to Sustainable Digital Accessibility.” Alison Levy, Director of Office of Technical and Information Services at the Board, will also provide a keynote and be a moderator for the panel “Future of Work: Building a Culture of Accessibility.”  Additionally, Board Senior Accessibility Specialists Bill Botten and Kathy Eng will present on accessibility in the federal workplace for built and digital environments, respectively.

The Summit is free and open to all federal employees. Registration is required on the Summit’s registration webpage by November 30, 2022. For additional questions about the Summit, please email the OPM Disability Employment Program at DisabilityEmployment@opm.gov.
