National Council on Disability to Host National Stakeholder Call on Health Equity Framework for People with Disabilities

National Council on Disability (NCD) will host a public webinar on its Health Equity Framework for People with Disabilities on February 23 from 2:00 – 2:45 p.m. (ET). After a culmination of meetings, outreach, and consultation with a multi-disciplinary team of advisors, NCD recently released its Health Equity Framework that offers a blueprint for policymakers to address systemic barriers and health disparities to achieve health equity for people with disabilities. Disability community stakeholders are invited to join the webinar where speakers will include Andrés Gallegos, Chairman of NCD, Rick Rader, MD, Council Member of NCD, Lisa lezzoni, MD, Harvard School of Medicine, and Neil Romano, Council Member of NCD. More information on the Health Equity Framework can be accessed on NCD’s website.

The webinar is free to attend, but registration is required. Communication Access Real-Time Translation (CART) and American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters will be provided. If other accommodations are required, please notify Anthony Simpson as soon as possible at asimpson.cntr@ncd.gov.  

On January 12, 2022, the U.S. Access Board hosted the virtual public event “Equity in Healthcare for People with Disabilities.” The event featured panel presentations on standards, research, and resources related to healthcare accessibility, including inclusive medical equipment, healthcare facility design, and information technology, and communication devices and systems.
