Dear Sirs, I am legally deaf and have been since age 23. I am now 65 years old and very much enjoy retirement and cruising with my husband. We are Diamond Members of RCCL and our favorite ship is Mariner of the Seas for its port is close to our home and easy for us to get to. We usually go on her about 5 times a year. My only problem is that none of the T.V. programs or Movies that they show for in room or public places are in Closed Captions. Yes they have the closed caption on the T.V. and remote but nothing is in closed captions. Freedom of the Seas, has closed captions as does all of Princess ships we have been on so know it can be done they just have to foremat it and will not or so it seems. It would be so nice to be able to have news and movies while at sea. I also have a big problem in that I can hear the disaster drill signal but can not understand what the Captain is then saying have to rely on the looks of passengers faces to know if it is for real or if I need to go and find my life jacket. I also can not hear the fire alarm in the room nor can I hear the phone ring or the door knock. I understand from another friend they do have accesibility kits for door and phone but only a few available for she was unable last month to obtain one even having requested prior to sailing. I can do without that for my husband will alert me but I so want closed captions. Steve Irwin died during our last cruise and I was so sad and wanted so badly to know the details of his death. Please if at all possible help our favorite ship to have closed captions. My friend that was unable to obtain this kit is Lynn Rousseau with whom we travel a lot. She is also President of the Florida Chapter of Shhh. She has given me help in finding you and making this request possible. Thank you for any help you may be able to give me in this matter.
Sincerely,
Dianne Kavanaugh
