As a person who has a profound hearing loss and who often uses the state ferry system in Washington State it is indeed important to me that all announcements are made in a way that I will be able to receive and understand their content. There needs to be more than just a public address system to "give" passengers important announcements. Our present system of conveying information is not adequate and needs the extra communication forms as outlined is Ms Battat's statement.
