With these exceptions and the advisory information contained in the appendix, you now have guidance on specific alternatives to adult specifications for those elements that you determine should be designed for children's use. These alternatives are, for the most part, incorporated into ADAAG in the form of exceptions to the body of provisions for adults. To apply these exceptions properly, you should understand the intended use for the design element in question, best practices, or local building codes. It is important to remember that if you use an exception, you must follow the technical specification it references. |
