The Access Board

The Access Board (established in 1973 as the U.S. Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board) is an independent Federal agency charged with developing and maintaining accessibility guidelines for buildings, facilities, and vehicles covered by the ADA and other statutes.

The Board also has responsibilities for telecommunications equipment access and electronic and information technology under two new laws.
