Please reject the proposed regulations requiring audible and tactile warnings at
traffic lights. They are not workable in every case and may indeed be a safety
My father has been blind since birth and travels very well using alternative
techniques. Blind and visually impaired people need better training
opportunities and increased mass transit and transportation alternatives. These
measures will do more to provide safety and ease of travel for all pedestrians.
The cost of these regulations is something my generation will soon and indeed
are already paying for and the effectiveness of the methodologies required has
not been proven to be cost effective. I do not want to pay taxes for un-needed
and un-wanted regulations.
These requirements can also cause blind and visually impaired people to rely on
these technologies and could cause them to not hear or be aware of approaching
cars and could result in death. I do not want to my taxes to be used for this
Please reject the regulations as proposed and go back to the drawing board and
come up with real solutions that will work and be les costly and more effective.
