Thank you for the opportunity to offer my thoughts regarding pedestrian
safety and detectible warnings.
As a person who is blind, I travel independently on a daily basis in the Boston area and have so for many years. I note that the environment and traffic patterns have changed and are today are becoming extremely more complex and difficult. Pedestrian signals and detectible warnings give me the information that is afforded to sighted travelers and provides me the safety and comfort to continue to travel independently. This in turn gives me a full and independent live style.
Thank you for your efforts in the past. Please continue to work on our behalf to improve pedestrian signals and detectible warnings. The environment for all blind people will remain safe and independent with the continuation of these devices in our lives.
