I am totally opposed to audible traffic signals for the blind. My wife
who is blind was recently trained at our Assessment and Training Center at the
Idaho Commission for the blind and Visually Impaired. She learned alternative
techniques used by blind persons. To travel independently was one major area of
training. She learned to cross streets by listening to the movement of the
traffic at each intersection.
It is important that my tax dollars go for good training rather than being used to fund audible traffic signals and detectable warning devices.
